PRESTARTER MASHES usage guidelines

PRESTARTER mash has to be given for the first time at the place of piglets' playground (under the radiator, on the warming mat, everywhere the piglets are the most often)<br />PRESTARTER mash has to be given for the first time during the hours of the highest activity of piglets, i. e. 10 - 12 AM. Those first quantities of PRESTARTER mash need to be minimal (handful of granules).

In the first days, PRESTARTER mash has to be given min. 5 times a day, each time removing the remains that has not been eaten (hygroscopic fodder - it easily absorbs moisture and surrounding's smells - thus after leaving it for a longer period of time, it becomes unattractive.

From the moment the piglets start to eat PRESTARTER mash off the ground i.e. after 3-4 days of feeding them, the fodder has to be put into the feeder located nearby the place where the fodder has been given to the piglets, to ensure the continuity of accessing to the fodder. The fodder that has not been eaten has to be removed and replenished with the new fresh one on a daily basis (every morning). The open sack of PRESTARTER mash should be closed each time the portion of the fodder had been taken out of it.

PRESTARTER mash needs to be stored in a dry and chilly place, free of strange smells.

PRESTARTER mash should be used in quantity of 5 kg per unit or till the moment the piglets reach 15 kg of body mass.

The transition from PRESTARTER mash to STARTER mash should never take place closely before and after the weaning. There should be a 7-day interval at minimum. The transition from one type of the fodder to the other should be performed gradually within a few days, through replacing one type of the fodder with the other.

In piggeries that experience diarrhoea problem, PRESTARTER mash should be replaced with STARTER mash - "PROTECT", for 10 days before the planned weaning of piglets and the feeding using this fodder, should be continued up to 10 days after the weaning.

Reducing the dose of a fodder for a sow before the weaning of piglets results in:

  • lowering the quantity of generated milk (piglets eat more of a solid fodder - the lack of edema disease)
  • piglets getting used to eating a solid fodder more evenly.
